Which credit cards get me into airport lounges in Australia?
The Amex Platinum is the most powerful card for lounge access in Australia, covering Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass and direct airline lounges. How much do Australian banks charge on overseas transactions?
Most Australian bank cards charge between 2.5% and 3.5% on foreign transactions — a margin baked into the exchange rate, sometimes plus a flat international fee. Airport currency kiosks typically charge 8–12%. Use the FX Rip-off Calculator to measure exactly what your card charges.
When do Qantas and Velocity points expire?
Qantas points expire after 18 months of account inactivity — any earning or redemption resets the clock. Velocity points expire after 24 months of inactivity. Amex Membership Rewards points don’t expire while your card is open. Use the Points Consolidator to keep a monthly record of your balances.
