Nomad eSIM Discount Code Australia: 15% Off with DREWDEAL

Nomad has been on our radar for some time. Our friends Trevor and Emma from Project Base8000, who’ve trekked to every 8,000-metre base camp, have used it extensively, including in Nepal and Pakistan.

We’ve added Nomad because it’s often cheaper per GB than Airalo for Europe and the USA, and it allows hotspot. We don’t stick to one eSIM out of loyalty. We choose on price and reliability. Our friends have confirmed the reliability, and our discount takes care of the price. I’ll be testing it myself in Switzerland and Italy in 2027.

How to add the code

  1. Click our link at pointsbrotherhood.com/nomad. It opens Nomad in a new tab.
  2. Pick your destination and plan. Country, regional and global plans are available.
  3. Log in or create a Nomad account, then go to checkout and find the promo code field.
  4. Check DREWDEAL is applied. If you came through our link, it should already be waiting under My Promos. If not, enter it in the promo code field. Make sure the 15% comes off the total before you pay.
  5. Install the eSIM on Wi-Fi before you fly. The plan starts when it connects at your destination.

If you see “This code is not applicable to selected plan(s)”: check you’re logged in, the plan is a fixed-data plan between 1GB and 50GB, it isn’t on sale or Unlimited, and you haven’t used DREWDEAL with Nomad before.

Does Nomad eSIM work in China?

Yes. It’s one of the most-searched Nomad questions in Australia. Based on research: I haven’t used it in China myself.

  • The firewall. Nomad routes your mobile data outside China, so Google, Gmail, WhatsApp and Instagram work without a separate VPN.
  • Networks. China Unicom and China Telecom.
  • Buy before you go. You can’t buy a new Nomad plan inside mainland China. You can top up a plan you started before you arrived.
  • Hotel Wi-Fi is still blocked. The bypass only works on mobile data, not hotel, cafe or airport Wi-Fi.
  • Use Apple Maps. Google Maps loads, but its locations are unreliable in China. Apple Maps uses Chinese map data.
  • The code and China. DREWDEAL works on fixed-data China plans from 1GB to 50GB, not Unlimited ones.
  • Hotspot is included on China plans.

Is Nomad eSIM legit?

Yes. Nomad launched in 2020 and is owned by LotusFlare, a US company. It covers 190+ destinations, with apps on iOS and Android, and runs its affiliate program through Impact, the same network as Airalo.

Nomad vs Airalo: quick take

I still default to Airalo because I’ve used it for years (my Airalo review). Nomad is worth a look for Europe and the USA, where its bigger plans are often cheaper per GB, and when you want to share data via hotspot. Airalo has the wider country list and is my pick for Asia. Like Yesim, there’s nothing stopping you having both on your phone. Airalo readers can use code DREWDEALNEW, explained on my Airalo deal page.

Shout-out to Project Base8000. My friends Trevor and Emma have trekked to the base camp of every one of the world’s 14 peaks over 8,000 metres, and Nomad came with them through Nepal and Pakistan. Follow their adventures at projectbase8000.com. Our Q&A on how Nomad held up in the Himalaya and the Karakoram is coming soon.
