Review: Peppers Resort Kingscliff

Peppers Resort Kingscliff is one of the most northern resorts in NSW. Situated in the Tweed River district it has all the benefits of a sub tropical resort without being concerned about border openings.

We have visited the resort twice this year, once in August and again in October. It is a great all year destination.

As a member of the Accor group there are lots of special offers available throughout the year. We took advantage of the stay seven nights (and only get your room cleaned once) for $1071. Which is just $153 per night, less than the price of a cabin at a caravan park!

Peppers Resort Kingscliff One Bedroom Spa Suite

On both occasions we chose the one bedroom spa suite. The suite is a generous 60m2.

The bathroom has a large spa bath and separate shower and toilet. There is a washing machine and dryer combo which is perfect for the long break.

The kitchen has everything you need from espresso coffee, tea pots, microwave, cook top and pans. With their Covid safety plan everything is wrapped in cling wrap so you know that it is clean.

The lounge area has  a large sofa and four person dining table. A generous deck setting overlooked the park next door and had easterly sun.

Both times we have stayed on the top floor and recommend it.

Pool Lagoon View vs Park View

While the lagoon view can be more interesting (we stayed in August) it may suffer from the westerly sun in the afternoon. Of course there are block out blinds and air conditioning to deal with this.

On our second visit we had the park view which has an easterly aspect and morning sun. We  have decided this is our preferred aspect.

How To Get To Peppers Resort Kingscliff

On our first visit we flew to Ballina with Qantas using a frequent flyer classic awards booking and then rented a car. There are lots of flights to Ballina everyday as it is the gateway to Northern NSW.

There are lots of car rental choices from Ballina and then it’s just a one hour drive from the airport past some amazing beaches such as Lennox Head to Kingscliff.

On our second visit we drove up with a two day stopover in the Port Macquarie area each way. An eleven night trip in total.

There is lots of parking underground at Peppers.

So if you don’t have a lot of time then fly up otherwise enjoy the drive.

Limited Food Options

With covid restrictions  in place the food options are underwhelming. The restaurant is open for breakfast but provides limited options. You can get some yoghurt or chia pudding plus some hot options such as bacon and eggs.

That being said as an Accor Plus member you get the second person for free. So a hot breakfast and extra coffee set us back around $25 for two. Hard to complain.

The good news is there is a string of food options in Salt Village 100m from the hotel.

Two Swimming Pools

There are two pools at the resort and a beach 300m walk away. You can also hop in a car and drive to Kingscliff which is a safer patrolled option.

Things To Do At Peppers Resort Kingscliff

On both occasions we rented bikes from the hotel and cycled to Cabarita beach. There is a great cafe at the surf life saving club. You can lock your bike up and either swim at the beach or walk up to Norries Head.

A great day trip is to hike Minyon Falls in the hinterland. It is challenging to get to the waterfall base but well worth the effort..

Summary

With constraints around where and when you can travel. Peppers resort at Kingscliff is a great option. Just make sure you get a deal.
