Welcome,

Coronavirus has changed everything. We posted a story on how Drew and Julie's plans changed as a result of COVID 19. It has been our most visited story to date.

Our tips for dealing with Coronavirus include:
  • Use points to buy plane tickets as they are easy to cancel at short notice. (Drew buys points off family members at 1c per point using the Qantas family transfer feature),
  • Buying points can also work with hotels particularly if you are staying for five days or longer,
  • Never prepay for hotels or cars as the premium is low,
  • Travel in Australia, Drew and Julie have just purchased tickets from Sydney to Adelaide and home via Alice Springs for less than $350 each.
If you want to cancel and have prepaid then contact the hotel or airline as things are moving fast and they are being flexible. Airbnb are now allowing cancellations under certain circumstances. As an Airbnb superhost Drew and Julie often refund non refundable bookings, depending on how they are asked.

This is what I have written:
We have been advised by the Australian Government we should not visit Northern Italy due to the Coronavirus. Can you let me know the cancellation policy? Once we understand this we will let you know the next steps.
If you are booking Airbnb soon use our link, we earn a small amount of income that we can use to make the blog better. You will also get a sneak peek at Drew's Airbnb.

Happy Travel Planning,

Milton & Drew

Airbnb Vs Hotel: 5 Reasons Why I Choose Hotels
The Airbnb vs Hotel debate has raged on since the company started in 2008. Airbnb is a great alternative for accommodation used by many travellers today but I continue to choose hotels. While hotels belonging to major chains like Hyatt, Hilton, IHG and Marriott may not be the most unique travel experience, I value the consistency and service that they offer. Below …

Review: Singapore Airlines Business Class A350 900

SQ362 is an unusual way to get to Europe. Singapore has taken advantage of fifth freedom rights and stops at Moscow on the way to Stockholm The other interesting fact is that it has been incredibly well priced way to get from Australia to Europe. We connected from Sydney on SQ222 and had a 2.5 hour layover in the KrisFlyer …

Review: Olmsted Brooklyn
Olmsted is a well regarded restaurant located in Prospect Heights which opened to many a glowing review in 2017.The Resy blurb described Olmsted as ‘a culinary oasis disguised as a neighbourhood restaurant’, and with Greg Baxtrom having worked in top kitchens including Alinea, Per Se and Blue Hill at Stone Barns I was looking forward to a quality meal in …

Review: Al Mourjan Business Lounge, Doha

Qatar’s hub in Doha is massive, almost exclusively serving Qatar flights (it takes 5km to walk to each gate). It is one of the most direct and quickest ways to get from Australia to Europe, and typical connections are about 2 hours. However, this time flying back from Switzerland, as I was travelling by train between cities to get to …
