Review Radisson Blu Airport Terminal Hotel, Stockholm-Arlanda Airport

We chose the Radisson Blu Arlanda Stockholm Airport Terminal 5 hotel as we had a 7pm arrival and 9:45am departure. It was the middle of winter and we wanted a hotel that was within the terminal precinct, without having to go into the sub zero temperatures.

This was our third stopover in Stockholm in the past 12 months and the chance to try something different. We had previously stayed at the Radisson Blu Waterfront in Stockholm.

We decided to pay the premium of not having to catch a bus to the Radisson Blu Arlanda Stockholm (the terminal hotel is nearly twice the price). The other alternative was to catch the efficient but expensive Arlanda Express train into the city. However you then needed to factor the high cost of Arlanda Express to Stockholm city into your calculations. When we last visited the information centre at the Arlanda Airport we purchased a discounted return ticket for 758SEK for 2 (around AUD116)

Well Located in Terminal 5

Having arrived on British Airways Terminal 3 it was a 10 minute walk to Skycity where the Radisson Blu is located. The great news is that it is right next to terminal 5 where our next flight SQ361 departs.

Check in was friendly and efficient. In reception they had fresh fruit, lemoned water, biscuits and lollies. Qatar uses the hotel for their staff and there were lots of people in reception wearing the distinctive Qatar uniform.

Rooms.

Having booked last minute through Qantas we ended up with a twin single rooms. Qantas had provided a $30 voucher because I had recently redeemed a frequent flyer flight. We learnt from Milton to never prepay for our hotels and cancelled our previous booking to take advantage of the voucher.

The twin single booking also happened when we stayed at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Stockholm, on that day front of house identified the problem and offered us a king bed. This did not happen and we ended up in a twin single.

The rooms at the Radisson were small but functional. It was very quiet with no hall or plane landing sounds. The beds and pillows were comfortable. We had a choice of a larger fuller pillow or a smaller malleable one. I chose the latter.

The biggest disappointment was the shower, that had three knobs to adjust the water. While Julie could figure it out, I ended up with a warm, weak dribble.
Tea and coffee were provided. Only one english breakfast tea bag and some instant coffee. Luckily we were heading straight to the lounge the next day.

Compared to the Radisson Blu waterfront the rooms were older and the amenities were standard below. Something to be expected from a transient  airport hotel.

Breakfast

As we were travelling business class we skipped breakfast and headed straight to the lounge. Breakfast is served at the restaurant next door.

Summary

The Radisson Blu Arlanda Airport Stockholm has a great location. You can be in the airport lounge within 10 minutes of leaving the hotel. This convenience comes at premium, and next time I will look for a different hotel.
